...winter weather system will move into the region today...
a strong cold front will move through the southern appalachian
region today. temperatures will become steady by afternoon...then
slowly begin to fall during the mid to late afternoon hours. snow
flurries and scattered light snow showers will be possible in many
areas...with light snow accumulations of less than an inch confined
to the higher elevations. breezy northwest winds behind the front
will develop this afternoon as well. cold air will continue to push
into the area tonight. overnight lows will fall into the teens
across much of the tennessee valley with single digits expected
over higher elevations. wind chill values will be in the single
digits across the valley locations with zero to minus 10 possible
across the eastern mountains.
