...snowfall expected across the far eastern tennessee mountains 
today and tonight... 
 
.an area of low pressure will race northeast across the northeast 
sections of the united states today. cold northwest winds can be expected 
over the southern appalachians today in the wake of the low. as the cold... 
moist air is lifted across the far eastern tennessee mountains today 
and tonight...snow is likely. the snowfall combined with breezy 
northwest winds will produce hazardous driving conditions across 
the higher elevations of the cherokee and smoky mountains.

...snow advisory in effect from 10 am this morning to 9 pm est 
this evening... 
 
the national weather service in morristown has issued a snow 
advisory...which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 9 pm est 
this evening. 
 
scattered light rain showers early this morning will change to 
snow...and increase in coverage and intensity...by late morning. 
periods of snow can be expected through the evening hours with 
total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches. the breezy northwest 
winds between 15 to 30 mph and gusty combined with the snow showers 
will reduce visibility to less than a quarter mile at times. 
 
a snow advisory means that periods of snow are expected or 
occurring...but accumulations are expected to be light.  driving 
and walking may be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks. 
be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. if 
you must travel...slow down and allow extra time to reach your 
destination.
