the national weather service in morristown has issued a 
 
* severe thunderstorm warning for... 
grainger county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of rutledge... 
hancock county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of sneedville... 
knox county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of knoxville... 
lee county in southwest virginia... 
this includes the city of jonesville... 
 
* until 1130 pm edt 
 
* at 1036 pm edt...national weather service doppler radar indicated a 
line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing penny size 
hail...and destructive winds in excess of 70 mph.  these storms 
were located along a line extending from 8 miles northwest of 
pennington gap to 6 miles north of rutledge to 22 miles west of 
knoxville...or along a line extending from 9 miles north of 
jonesville to 6 miles north of rutledge to 8 miles north of oak 
ridge...and moving east at 40 mph. 
 
* severe thunderstorms will be near... 
sneedville and jonesville by 1045 pm edt... 
rutledge...bean station and pennington gap by 1050 pm edt... 
knoxville by 1110 pm edt... 
 
in addition to large hail and damaging winds...continuous cloud to 
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. move indoors 
immediately! lightning is one of natures primary killers. remember... 
if you can hear thunder...you are close enough to be struck by 
lightning.
