the national weather service in morristown has issued a 
 
* severe thunderstorm warning for... 
cocke county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of newport... 
greene county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of greeneville... 
hamblen county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of morristown... 
hawkins county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of rogersville... 
jefferson county in east tennessee... 
this includes the cities of...jefferson city...dandridge... 
scott county in southwest virginia... 
this includes the city of gate city... 
 
* until 1130 pm edt 
 
* at 1046 pm edt...national weather service doppler radar indicated a 
line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing penny size 
hail...and destructive winds in excess of 70 mph.  these storms 
were located along a line extending from 24 miles north of 
surgoinsville to morristown to 17 miles west of new market...or 
along a line extending from 12 miles northeast of jonesville to 
morristown to 9 miles northeast of knoxville...and moving east at 
45 mph. 
 
* severe thunderstorms will be near... 
rogersville...new market and jefferson city by 1100 pm edt... 
white pine and surgoinsville by 1110 pm edt... 
dandridge by 1115 pm edt... 
weber city and gate city by 1120 pm edt... 
tusculum and greeneville by 1125 pm edt... 
 
in addition to large hail and damaging winds...continuous cloud to 
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. move indoors 
immediately! lightning is one of natures primary killers. remember... 
if you can hear thunder...you are close enough to be struck by 
lightning.
