colder than normal conditions are expected to continue for the 
next few days. a canadian ridge of high pressure will continue to 
build south into the southern appalachians and tennessee valley 
through the rest of the week. temperatures will likely dip at or below 
freezing over most locations tonight...and area-wide thursday 
night.

the national weather service in morristown has issued a freeze 
warning...which is in effect from midnight edt /11 pm cdt/ 
tonight to 10 am edt /9 am cdt/ thursday. a freeze watch remains 
in effect from late thursday night through friday morning. 
 
mostly clear sky and calmer winds will temperatures overnight to 
drop to around 30 degrees to lower 30s by thursday morning.  temperatures 
thursday night into friday morning are expected to drop into the 
upper 20s to around 30 across the central tennessee valley. 
temperatures will at or below freezing for 2 to 3 hours thursday 
night. 
 
a freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are expected or 
occurring. these conditions may kill crops and other sensitive 
vegetation that are left unprotected.
