...windy conditions expected across the region into this evening... 
 
.an area of low pressure over missouri and western illinois will 
move east into the ohio valley tonight helping to tighten the pressure 
gradient across the southern appalachians and tennessee valley this 
afternoon. southerly winds will increase up to 20 to 35 mph with 
gusts up to 45 mph over the higher elevations over the rest of the 
afternoon and early evening hours. 
 
these southerly winds should shift to the west and diminish by 
mid evening behind passage of an associated cold front.

southerly winds will increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 
45 mph into the early evening hours...as a strong cold front 
approaches. showers and thunderstorms associated with the cold 
front may help bring these strong winds to the surface. 
 
winds of this strength may blown down trees and power lines this 
afternoon and early this evening. 
 
a wind advisory means that winds of 31 to 39 mph and/or gusts of 
40 to 57 mph are expected or occurring. winds this strong can 
make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles... 
so use caution when driving.
