...accumulating snow possible late sunday afternoon and sunday night
across the higher elevations of southwest virginia and northeast
tennessee...including the smoky mountains...
as the strong low pressure system moves northeast across the region
overnight...winds will shift to the northwest sunday morning and
draw much cooler air into the region.
these strong northwest winds...lingering low level moisture and
much cooler temperatures...should allow rain showers to mix with
or change over to snow showers by sunday night.
at this time...no significant snowfall is expected for lower
elevations...mainly for elevations above 2500 feet. snowfall in
these higher elevations could reach 1 to 3 inches by monday morning
...and possibly up to 4 inches across the highest elevations
including the smoky mountains.
stay tuned to this station for later forecasts...statements or
possible snow advisories...if needed.
