elevations of southwest virginia and east tennessee... 
 
.a strong upper level disturbance will swing over the southern 
appalachian region this afternoon and evening...bringing much 
colder air aloft. this colder air aloft will help change the rain 
over to snow this afternoon and evening across mainly the higher 
elevations above 2500 feet. some light snow accumulations will be 
possible across the higher elevations before this snow ends later 
tonight.

the national weather service in morristown has issued a snow 
advisory...which is in effect from noon today to 4 am edt monday. 
 
light snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches will be possible by 
this evening across the higher elevations of southwest virginia 
and east tennessee...mainly above 2500 feet. 
 
a snow advisory means that periods of snow are expected or 
occurring...but accumulations are expected to be light.  driving 
and walking may be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks. 
be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. if 
you must travel...slow down and allow extra time to reach your 
destination.
