...light snow accumulations possible the rest of the night across 
the higher elevations of southwest virginia and northeast 
tennessee... 
 
.a strong upper level disturbance will continue to move over the 
southern appalachian region this evening and early monday...with much 
colder air aloft. the colder air aloft will continue the snow 
tonight at the higher elevations across southwest virginia and much of 
northeast tennessee...including the smoky mountains. 
 
although lower elevations...including the north and central 
valleys...may see some light snowfall...accumulations should be 
limited to the higher elevations above 2500 feet and heaviest snow 
amounts will mainly occur above 4000 feet.

statements and forecasts.

...snow advisory remains in effect until 4 am edt monday... 
 
a snow advisory remains in effect until 4 am edt monday. snow 
showers will continue tonight. light snow accumulations of 1 to 3 
inches will be possible by early monday morning across the higher 
elevations of southwest virginia and northeast tennessee...mainly 
above 2500 feet. the highest elevations of the northeast tennessee 
mountains and the smoky mountains may see isolated higher amounts 
of 4 inches or more. 
 
a snow advisory means that periods of snow are expected or 
occurring...but accumulations are expected to be light.  driving 
and walking may be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks. 
be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. if 
you must travel...slow down and allow extra time to reach your 
destination.

In Tennessee: Blount, Carter, Cocke, Greene, Johnson, Monroe, Sevier, Unicoi.  In Virginia: Bristol City, Lee, Norton City, Russell, Scott, Washington, Wise.
