...windy conditions expected tonight into monday afternoon... 
 
.a low pressure system over the mid atlantic coastal area tonight 
will continue to move slowly north toward the northeast states 
through monday while high pressure over the southern mississippi 
valley moves east. this will keep a strong pressure gradient across 
the southern appalachians. as a result...strong northwest winds 
will continue across southwest virginia...northeast tennessee and 
southwest north carolina...especially over the higher elevations 
above 2500 feet.

...wind advisory remains in effect until 6 pm edt monday... 
 
a wind advisory remains in effect until 6 pm edt monday. strong 
northwest winds between 15 and 30 mph with higher gusts up to 
40 mph...will continue overnight across southwest virginia... 
northeast tennessee and southwest north carolina. higher wind 
speeds of 25 to 35 mph with higher gusts will be possible across 
the higher elevations above 2500 feet. these strong northwest winds 
are expected to linger into monday afternoon. 
 
a wind advisory means that sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph and/or 
gusts of 40 to 57 mph are expected. winds this strong can make 
driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles... so 
use caution when driving.

In North Carolina: Cherokee, Clay.  In Tennessee: Blount, Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Monroe, Polk, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, Washington.  In Virginia: Bristol City, Lee, Norton City, Russell, Scott, Washington, Wise.
