afternoon... 
 
.the hot weather pattern that is in place over the eastern u.s. will 
become more pronounced today and thursday and may continue through 
friday. afternoon heat index values will reach 100 to 105 for 
several hours in the afternoon with very warm temperatures at 
night at or above 75 degrees. this advisory may have to be extended 
through friday as the hot weather pattern may continue until the 
weekend.

heat index values will reach 100 to 105 across southeast 
tennessee during the afternoon. 
 
a heat advisory means that a period of very hot conditions is 
expected or occurring. hot temperatures and high humidity will 
combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are 
possible. avoid prolonged work in the sun or in poorly ventilated 
areas...drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic beverages...and 
spend as much time as possible in an air conditioned environment.
