urgent - winter weather message 
national weather service morristown tn 
406 pm est sun feb 4 2007 
 
...cold temperatures and wind chills tonight and early monday in the 
higher elevations... 
 
.cold air will continue to move into the region tonight and combine 
with brisk west or northwest winds to create cold wind chill 
temperatures in the smoky mountains and northern mountains of east 
tennessee. wind chill readings will range from around 15 below zero 
to 5 degrees above zero at times...mainly from around midnight 
tonight until near noon monday. the coldest chills should be 
confined to elevations above 3000 feet. 
 
should caution and dress appropriately if you have to travel in 
these areas overnight and early monday. stay tuned to noaa weather 
radio for later forecasts and statements from your national weather 
service office in morristown.

...wind chill advisory in effect from 11 pm this evening to 11 am 
est monday... 
 
the national weather service in morristown has issued a wind 
chill advisory...which is in effect from 11 pm this evening to 
11 am est monday. 
 
more cold arctic air moving into the region will produce lows in the 
single digits and teens overnight. brisk west or northwest winds 
will create wind chill temperatures as low as 15 degrees below to 5 
degrees above zero at times. 
 
a wind chill advisory means that cold air and strong winds will 
combine to generate very low wind chills. these conditions can 
result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or even death if 
precautions are not taken.  those venturing outdoors should dress 
warmly...making sure all exposed skin is covered.
