...a light snowfall possible late this afternoon and overnight...

an area of low pressure over the mid mississippi valley region will
continue to track southeast toward the southern appalachians today
and tonight.  light snow should spread east from middle tennessee
and central kentucky...and reach the central and parts of the
southern valley counties of east tennessee by this afternoon.

the precipitation may fall as a mix of rain and snow today across
southeast tennessee...including polk county into cherokee and clay
counties of southwestern north carolina.  light snow or flurries
will generally affect all areas overnight...but the more
significant snowfall amounts should be confined to areas where snow
advisories will go into effect later today through early sunday
morning.

locations not included in the snow advisories...are the central and
southern valley counties of east tennessee...as well as cherokee
and clay counties of north carolina.  persons in these areas may see
from a dusting of snow up to 2 inches by sunday morning...
especially at elevations above 2000 to 3000 feet.

however...you should continue to monitor weather conditions today
and tonight...as this wintry weather system develops and approaches
the region.  stay tuned to this station for later statements and
forecasts from your national weather service in morristown.
