...accumulating snowfall expected this evening into sunday 
morning... 
 
.a strong...fast moving low pressure system will move east 
through the southern appalachians tonight. 
 
as the system moves through...light to moderate snow will move across 
much of the area. 
 
the heaviest snowfall is expected across the northern cumberland 
plateau and the east tennessee mountains where 4 to 7 inches of snow 
is possible. southwest virginia could see as much as 2 to 4 inches 
by sunday morning. the central and northern tennessee valley and 
extreme southwest north carolina will see from 1 to 3 inches.

...heavy snow warning in effect until 4 pm est sunday... 
 
the national weather service in morristown has issued a heavy 
snow warning...which is in effect until 4 pm est sunday. the snow 
advisory is no longer in effect. 
 
light to moderate snow will continue overnight across the northern 
and smoky mountains of east tennessee...then linger throughout the 
day on sunday. total snowfall will range from 4 to 7 inches mainly 
above 2000 feet by sunday afternoon...with isolated heavier amounts 
possible above 4000 feet. 
 
a heavy snow warning means severe winter weather conditions are 
expected or occurring.  significant amounts of snow are forecast 
that will make travel dangerous. in addition...snowfall 
intensities will be heavy enough to substantially reduce 
visibilities at times.  travel is discouraged.  if travel is 
unavoidable...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your 
vehicle in case of an emergency.
