...accumulating snowfall expected this evening into sunday 
morning... 
 
.a strong...fast moving low pressure system will move east 
through the southern appalachians tonight. 
 
as the system moves through...light to moderate snow will move across 
much of the area. 
 
the heaviest snowfall is expected across the northern cumberland 
plateau and the east tennessee mountains where 4 to 7 inches of snow 
is possible. southwest virginia could see as much as 2 to 4 inches 
by sunday morning. the central and northern tennessee valley and 
extreme southwest north carolina will see from 1 to 3 inches.

the national weather service in morristown has issued a snow 
advisory...which is in effect until 9 am est sunday. 
 
light snow will continue across the central tennessee valley and 
extreme southwest north carolina tonight...diminishing by 
morning. total snowfall may range from 1 to 3 inches by sunday 
morning. 
 
a snow advisory means that periods of snow are expected or 
occurring...but accumulations are expected to be light.  driving 
and walking may be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks. 
be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. if 
you must travel...slow down and allow extra time to reach your 
destination.
