...accumulating snowfall gradually ending today...
.lingering low level moisture and brisk west or northwest winds...
will continue to produce at least scattered snow showers or
flurries...on the back side of the departing low pressure system.
some additional light snow accumulations may occur at least this
morning...with a few snow showers or flurries lasting into the
afternoon hours in the higher elevations along the tennessee and
north carolina state line.
partial sunshine may break out on the cumberland plateau and
valley locations by this afternoon...but temperatures are
expected to mainly hold in the 20s and 30s. slow clearing of
skies and cold temperatures overnight...will cause most roads to
be icy and snow covered again into monday morning.

afternoon.
light to moderate snow showers this morning will gradually
diminish to flurries by mid to late afternoon. additional snow
accumulation of up to 2 inches will be possible...with total
snowfall ranging generally from 3 to 7 inches. isolated higher
totals can be expected at and above 5000 feet.
a heavy snow warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. significant amounts of snow are forecast
that will make travel dangerous. in addition...snowfall
intensities will be heavy enough to substantially reduce
visibilities at times. travel is discouraged. if travel is
unavoidable...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
