...severe storms possible thursday along with strong winds in the
mountains...

a strong low pressure system will approach from the west on
thursday. showers and a few thunderstorms will move into the area
on thursday morning. the storms are expected to increase in
coverage and intensity through the day...and there is a slight risk
of some of the storms reaching severe limits. the main threat
appears to be damaging straight-line winds...as strong winds above
the surface may be brought down by the thunderstorms. the time of
the greatest threat appears to be late thursday afternoon and
thursday evening.

as the low pressure system approaches...winds aloft will increase
on thursday. the mountains of tennessee and southwest north
carolina could see sustained winds between 20 and 35 mph...with
gusts up to 50 mph.
