...snowfall expected across the higher elevations today... 
 
.a fast moving winter weather system will move across the southern 
appalachian region today...spreading precipitation across southwest 
virginia and east tennessee. in the higher elevations of southwest 
virginia and east tennessee...snow accumulations will be 
possible...mainly above 2500 feet.

...snow advisory in effect from 10 am this morning to 8 pm est 
this evening... 
 
the national weather service in morristown has issued a snow 
advisory...which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 8 pm est 
this evening. the winter storm watch is no longer in effect. 
 
snow is expected to develop across east tennessee around late this 
morning. snowfall accumulations of one to four inches is 
possible...mainly above 2500 feet. locally higher amounts will also 
be possible in the highest elevations of the mountains above 4000 
feet. warm ground and near-surface temperatures should help to 
limit snow accumulations in the foothills below 2500 feet... 
although up to two inches may quickly accumulate with any snow 
squalls. 
 
a snow advisory means that periods of snow are expected or 
occurring...but accumulations are expected to be light.  driving 
and walking may be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks. 
be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. if 
you must travel...slow down and allow extra time to reach your 
destination.

In Tennessee: Blount, Carter, Cocke, Greene, Johnson, Sevier, Unicoi.
