appalachian region today...spreading precipitation across southwest 
virginia and east tennessee. snow accumulations will be possible... 
mainly in the higher elevations above 2500 feet.

occasional snow showers will continue through the afternoon...with 
snowfall accumulations of one to five inches possible...mainly 
above 2500 feet. locally higher amounts will also be possible in 
the highest elevations of the mountains above 5000 feet. 
 
a snow advisory means that periods of snow are expected or 
occurring...but accumulations are expected to be light.  driving 
and walking may be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks. 
be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. if 
you must travel...slow down and allow extra time to reach your 
destination.
