...light icy precipitation possible sunday morning across the
region...

cold air will remain in place across the southern appalachian
region this weekend...as a low pressure system develops along the
gulf coast saturday night. this system will spread a large amount of
moisture toward the southern appalachian region by sunday morning.
with temperatures hovering near the freezing mark...some light
freezing rain or sleet is expected at the onset of this initial
precipitation. temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by
sunday afternoon...resulting in rain for the entire region. right
now...it would appear that only light icing problems will develop on
sunday morning. however...a slight change in the track...strength
and timing of this system may lead to higher precipitation amounts
than currently forecast. locations that are most likely to see some
light icing on sunday morning will be north of interstate 40...
including northeast tennessee and southwest virginia.
