...light wintry precipitation possible sunday morning across the
region...
cold air will remain in place across the southern appalachian region
this weekend...as a low pressure system develops along the gulf coast
on saturday. this system will spread moisture toward the southern
appalachian region late saturday night into sunday morning...with
temperatures expected to be near freezing. as a result...some
light freezing rain or sleet is expected during the onset of this
precipitation. temperatures are expected to slowly rise above
freezing by late sunday morning...resulting in all rain.
at this time...no significant ice accumulation is expected in most
of the tennessee valley. a light glaze of ice on trees and other
elevated surfaces may occur in higher elevations of the cumberland
plateau and southwest north carolina...and some bridges and
overpasses may become slick. however...a slight change in the
timing of this precipitation may lead to greater accumulations than
currently forecast.
