...a mix of wintry precipitation expected late tonight and sunday 
morning... 
 
.a low pressure system will move towards the southern appalachian 
region tonight...spreading moisture into the area. with 
temperatures expected to be below freezing by sunrise... 
precipitation will likely begin as light snow...then change to 
light sleet..and then to light freezing rain. by sunday 
afternoon...temperatures are expected to slowly warm above 
freezing with the precipitation changing to all rain. overall... 
any snow or ice accumulations in the morning are expected to be 
light.

est sunday... 
 
a winter weather advisory remains in effect from 4 am to 3 pm est 
sunday. 
 
precipitation is expected to begin over the advisory area late 
tonight as light rain or snow...then gradually change to light 
sleet... and then to freezing rain. some light snow accumulations 
of an inch or two will be possible initially...mainly over 
southwest virginia. some light ice accumulations...around a tenth 
of an inch or less... will also be possible by sunday 
morning...mainly on trees and other elevated surfaces. roads may 
become icy in spots...mainly on bridges and overpasses. by sunday 
afternoon... temperatures are expected to rise above freezing...and 
the precipitation will likely become all rain. 
 
a winter weather advisory means that periods of snow...sleet... 
and freezing rain are expected...but accumulations are expected 
to be light. driving and walking may be difficult on untreated 
roadways and sidewalks. be prepared for snow and ice covered 
roads and limited visibilities. if you must travel...slow down 
and allow extra time to reach your destination.
