...a surge of colder air to push into the region along with some
snow showers and flurries thursday into thursday night...

an upper level disturbance will bring a chance of snow showers and
flurries to the area...mainly thursday and thursday evening. very cold
temperatures aloft and an upslope wind will result in a good chance
of accumulating snow in parts of southwest virginia and the
tennessee mountains. exact snowfall amounts are uncertain at this
time...but local snow accumulations of an inch or two will be
possible...with locally higher amounts possible over the highest
elevations.

in addition...low temperatures are expected to be in the teens to the
single digits thursday night in the mountains and across portions
of southwest virginia...and this combined with brisk northwest
winds will lead to wind chill values dropping below zero at times.
wind chill values over the northern plateau as well as the northern
and central valleys will dip into the single digits and teens at
times by late thursday night.

listen to noaa weather radio or your local media for the latest
