...temperatures will plummet in wake of strong cold front...

a cold front will move rapidly through the southern appalachians
this morning. an airmass with very cold temperatures will build
into the area through early monday. temperatures will hover in the
upper 20s to mid 30s sunday. brisk northwest winds at 10 to 20 mph
will result in wind chill readings near 20 degrees. temperatures
will drop rapidly tonight falling into the teens at most locations.
the northwest winds will stay up early tonight allowing the wind
chill readings to fall into the single digits. these readings may
be below zero across southwest virginia and the mountains of east
tennessee.

scattered light snow showers will continue today and increase in
coverage this evening. a snow advisory is in effect for most of
southwest virginia and the mountains of east tennessee until
midnight est.

In North Carolina: Cherokee, Clay.  In Tennessee: Anderson, Bledsoe, Blount, Bradley, Campbell, Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hamilton, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Polk, Rhea, Roane, Scott, Sequatchie, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, Washington.  In Virginia: Bristol City, Lee, Norton City, Russell, Scott, Washington, Wise.
