...light wintry precipitation possible wednesday night into
thursday...

moisture moving north from the gulf of mexico will run into cold
air streaming down from canada and collide over the southern
appalachians. precipitation will begin late wednesday night and
continue into the day on thursday. this precipitation will begin as
light snow over east tennessee and spread into southwest virginia
and southwest north carolina.

the precipitation will remain as mostly snow north of knoxville
thursday...but will likely mix with or change to rain areas along and
south of knoxville.

at this time...our best estimate is for around 1 inch in the
knoxville area with 1 to 2 inches possible in the tri-cities. for
southwest virginia and higher elevations of east tennessee...
snowfall of 2 to 4 inches are possible. at this time...we feel
that southeast tennessee will see little accumulations with the
possible exception of the higher elevations of marion and hamilton
counties where monteagle...lookout and signal mountains may see
some light accumulations of snow...sleet and freezing rain.
