...snow and sleet expected in middle tennessee wednesday night and
thursday...
cold air will continue to dominate the region this week. a weak storm
system will develop along the gulf coast...causing moisture to spread
across tennessee and surrounding areas wednesday night and thursday.
precipitation is expected to develop after midnight...in the form of
light snow. across the entire mid state...areas could receive up to 1
inch of accumulation by 6 am thursday.
the precipitation is expected to mix with or change to sleet and rain
for most of the mid state on thursday. the cumberland plateau as
well as areas along and north of interstate 40 could see another inch
of accumulation on thursday before temperatures climb into the mid
30s. on thursday...the southern counties of the mid state will see a
more rapid change to rain during the morning...so additional snow
accumulations on thursday will be limited to light amounts only.
given the uncertainty as to the exact track of this system...
precipitation amounts are uncertain. however...at this time...
indications are that 1 to 2 inches of total snow accumulation will be
possible across a large portion of the mid state by late morning
thursday from this storm system.
snow and sleet could make travel hazardous late wednesday night
into thursday...so people should monitor updated forecasts and be
prepared for the possibility of a winter storm across the region.
