the national weather service in morristown has issued a 
 
* severe thunderstorm warning for... 
cocke county in east tennessee... 
this includes the city of newport... 
greene county in east tennessee... 
 
* until 345 pm edt 
 
* at 232 pm edt...national weather service doppler radar indicated a 
severe thunderstorm capable of producing penny size hail...and 
damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.  this storm was located 9 miles 
northwest of parrottsville...or about 9 miles southeast of 
morristown...and moving southeast at 15 mph. 
 
* the severe thunderstorm will be near... 
7 miles northeast of newport by 305 pm edt... 
parrottsville by 310 pm edt... 
 
in addition to large hail and damaging winds...continuous cloud to 
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. move indoors 
immediately! lightning is one of natures primary killers. remember... 
if you can hear thunder...you are close enough to be struck by 
lightning.
