.a strong storm system will move across the region overnight 
continuing the strong winds over the higher elevations. southerly 
winds between 25 and 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph will swing around 
to the west after midnight. as high pressure builds into the 
region on friday winds should subside.

higher elevations in the mountains...generally at or above 
2500 feet...will experience strong southerly winds this evening. 
the winds will shift to the west late tonight as a cold front 
passes through the area. winds of 25 to 35 mph will be common in 
the mountains... with gusts up to 55 mph in the higher elevations. 
 
winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for 
high profile vehicles...so use caution when driving or even delay 
travel. some downed trees are also possible.

In North Carolina: Cherokee, Clay.  In Tennessee: Blount, Carter, Cocke, Greene, Johnson, Monroe, Polk, Sevier, Unicoi.
