...windy conditions late this afternoon and tonight... 
 
.a strong low pressure system will approach the area from the 
west overnight tightening the pressure gradient over the southern 
appalachians. southerly winds will increase to 15 to 30 mph across 
the lower elevations. across the higher terrain...southerly winds 
will increase to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph...which is 
capable of blowing trees and power lines down.

a wind advisory remains in effect until 4 am est friday. 
 
south winds will increase to between 25 and 35 mph late this 
afternoon...with wind gusts up to 50 mph. the stronger wind gusts 
will mainly be felt across the higher elevations above 3000 feet. 
 
winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for 
high profile vehicles... so use caution when driving. the strong 
wind gusts will also be capable of downing trees and power lines.
